FREN 322 - Francophone Caribbean Literature


3 Credits
Three hours per week.

This course will provide students the opportunity to explore the literature of the Francophone Caribbean. Students will become familiar with such concepts as Négritude and Créolité and will explore the issues of race, class and gender in the context of the Francophone Caribbean. Authors studied will include Césaire, Roumain, Condé and Chamoiseau.

Prerequisite(s) FREN 204 , or four or more levels of French in high school. When this course is cross-listed as a LACS course, there will be no prerequisite and this course will be taught in English, with the readings and assignments in French for students earning French credit.
