SOWK 361 - Dimensions of Family Violence


3 Credits
3 hours per week.

This course provides an in-depth examination of the complex issues surrounding family violence and will provide students with extensive knowledge to understand the various dynamics involved in the cycle of violence. Content in the course will explore issues of family violence as it relates to intimate partner violence, child abuse, and elderly abuse. Additionally students will be introduced to such specialized topics as stalking, sexual harassment, human trafficking, military families, and the churches’ response to further expand knowledge about these dynamics and their connection to family violence. Lastly the course will incorporate a number of international perspectives to allow students to understand that family violence crosses borders and cultures.
