HIST 313 - Emerging Europe


3 Credits
Three hours per week.

This course examines European history from the Reformation through the French Revolution and Napoleonic epoch. The religious crisis of the 1500s in Western and Central Europe and the Age of Exploration are the starting points to understand the intellectual, social, and cultural history of the 16th through 18th centuries. Religious wars, the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment will be studied. The course culminates with the study of the French Revolution and the emergence of political modernity.
