COSC 241 - Computer Systems and Digital Logic 3 Credits Three lecture hours.
This course introduces basic concepts of computer systems and digital logic and circuit design including both combinational logics (e.g. Boolean Laws and Algebra, DeMorgan’s Theorem, basic logic gates, encoders, decoders, multiplexers, de-multiplexers, adders and subtractors) and sequential logics (e.g. latches, flip-flops, and counters). Also, data representation, device characteristics, and register transfer notation are covered in a manner that stresses application of basic problem solving techniques to both hardware and software design. It is a first course in computer and ASSEMBLY language programming.
Prerequisite(s) COSC 112 or Departmental permission required to register. Students must pass COSC 112 with a grade of C or better. Co-Requisite(s) ) Offered (FALL/SPRING)
