HIST 360 - Introduction to the African Diaspora, Honors (CI)


3 Credits
Three hours per week.

This course traces the scattering of the peoples of African ancestry across their continental homeland, their subsequent dispersion around the world to Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas, and the return to Africa. It places emphasis on resistance movements, slavery and emancipation and current diasporic developments. It also provides the student the opportunity for extensive reading, critical thinking, research and writing experiences and for the application of knowledge and skills to problems and issues in contemporary society. This course is required of students in the University Honors Program to satisfy General Education Requirements and is open to other students with departmental permission.

Prerequisite(s) successful completion of 36 college credits.
