ENGL 820 - Thought and Influence of W.E.B. Du Bois

This course considers the intellectual and artistic achievements of W.E.B. Du Bois, against a back-ground of socio-political debate and change. Major discussions will concern the philosophical influences upon works such as The Souls of Black Folk, the structure and thematic content of his poems and novels, his contributions to the art of the autobiography, and his involvement in the Niagara and Pan-African movements.
