NURS 301 - Nursing Process and Health Assessment 4 credits 3 lecture hours. 6 practicum hours.
This course introduces the student to the Nursing process, critical thinking, and decision-making essential for health assessment. The health assessment is based in theories and concepts of health and wellness as well as the variables that influence health status throughout the life cycle. Nursing Diagnostic skills essential to health assessment and formulation of nursing diagnoses and health care plans are performed on consumers of various ages. A beginning application of the clinical reasoning process involving assessment, data analysis, nursing diagnosis, interventions and outcomes will be emphasized. Students will practice these skills in a simulated clinical setting and validate them in clinical practice. Admission to the upper level nursing program is required for registration.
