PHYS 205 - University Physics I 4 credits 4 lecture hours.
This is the first semester of a two-semester sequence. This is a calculus-based course designed for students of the natural sciences and engineering. This course emphasizes classical mechanics or Newtonian mechanics. Topics include force, particle kinematics and dynamics, equilibrium, Newton’s laws of motion and gravitation, rotational motion, collisions, momentum, heat, energy and conservation laws. Students must register for both PHYS 205 and PHYS 205L for the same semester.
Prerequisite(s) MATH 241 completed with a grade of “C” or higher Co-Requisite(s) PHYS 205L Offered (FALL/SPRING/SUMMER)
