POSC 463 - International Political Economy 3 credits 3 hours per week.
This course explores the interaction between politics and economics within the international system. It will discuss major interests and institutions and examine how state and non-state actors pursue wealth and power. Students will learn how to use multiple different theories to understand and critically assess global economic processes. The course will analyze various aspects of the International Political Economy, including the evolving theoretical approaches to the discipline and the problems and opportunities created by global, political and economic forces (such as financial crises, globalization, and development). This course will help students to develop the tools necessary to understand how states, domestic actors, international organizations, and multinational corporations try to shape politics and economics to their own benefit.
