HIST 140 - Introduction to African American History 3 credits 3 lecture hours.
Introduction to African American History is an entry-level course in African American History. The course focuses on the political, economic, cultural, and social history of African descended peoples in American history, from the introduction of slavery through contemporary events. The course will focus on agency and resit stance and the construction of African American identity in the face of oppression. It addresses freedom struggles and citizenship, through primary and secondary sources.
