SOCI 120 - Introduction to Criminal Justice


3 credits
The Introduction to Criminal Justice course will involve an examination of the three branches of the U.S. criminal justice system - law enforcement, the courts, and corrections. Crime and the U.S. criminal justice system will be examined by:          

1. How the three major branches are interrelated,                       

2. Characteristics and challenges within and between the three major branches, and       

3. The role of the three major branches and the stages of the criminal procedure, from arrest through release.
