SOCI 496 - Seminar in Criminal Justice Administration 3 credits This course is the capstone course for the criminal justice track and minor. There is a critical examination of the three major branches of the U.S. Criminal Justice System (law enforcement, the courts, and corrections), scholars, practitioners, and community based on special topics and curricula (Fall or Spring)
At the conclusion of the course, through a combination of learning techniques (lecture, projects, and readings), students will be able to describe:
1. How the three major branches are interrelated,
2. Characteristics and challenges within and between the three major branches, and
3. The role of the three major branches and the stages of the criminal procedure, from arrest through release.
