EDUC 330 - Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Education 3 credits The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is integral for the 21st century classroom. Today’s learners need to know what AI is, how it works, how to use it in their everyday lives, and how it could potentially be used in their future. Using AI requires skills and values which extend far beyond simply having knowledge about coding and technology. This course is designed to provide the pre-service teacher with knowledge concerning the ways in which technological changes have impacted society and influenced learning and instructional activities in the school based on the five big ideas of AI. This course is for students who want to understand the introductory concepts of AI and why it is important for students in schools to have exposure and experience with these powerful technologies. Students in this course will examine the conceptual framework of the Five Big Ideas of AI:Perception, Representation and Reasoning, Machine Learning, Natural Interaction, and Societal Impact as it relates to the current programmatic teaching standards, InTASC and MTTS.
