PHIL 226 - Ethics of Technology 3 credits In this course students reflect critically on technology and technologies, including their nature, capabilities, risks, and cultural significance. Students learn to apply concepts from specific technology evaluation frameworks such as cost-benefit analysis, risk analysis, justice and equity-based analyses, stakeholder analysis, and value sensitive design. Examples of ethical issues in specific technologies may be drawn from transportation, food production, energy, computation, social media, artificial intelligence, or others. Can be repeated for credit 2 times.
