CICS 494 - Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies 4 credits This course provides an introduction to interdisciplinary studies, focusing on the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in solving complex real-world problems. Students will develop skills needed to conduct interdisciplinary research and problem solving, explore challenges and opportunities presented by interdisciplinary studies, and integrate knowledge from different disciplines to gain new insights. Students will also evaluate the effectiveness of interdisciplinary works and their role in academia, the workforce, and society. Through critical and analytical thinking, students will develop effective written and oral communication skills necessary for interdisciplinary research, and apply interdisciplinary approaches to their intended academic and career goals. Students must be CICS majors in order to register.
