CICS 385 - Interdisciplinary Career Pivots

This course equips degree completion students with the tools and confidence to navigate a career or industry change and build a professional identity for the next chapter. Blending career exploration with professional development, students will identify transferable skills from previous work and academic experiences, align their strengths with emerging opportunities, and develop a personal brand for the next stage of their careers. Emphasis is placed on practical skill-building—revamping resumes and cover letters, crafting strategic social media profiles, and refining narratives that demonstrate readiness and adaptability. An emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary connections and the ways in which skills can be transferred across industries. Students will complete a professional portfolio, including a targeted resume, cover letter, updated LinkedIn profile, and a personal career statement, and an actionable plan to support job searches, career redirection, and professional advancement.
