FACS 350 - Introduction to Exceptional Children 3 credits The course is designed as a pre-service course for child development candidates with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences providing them with a basic understanding of students with disabilities. These students will often be educated in the regular education classroom setting and each regular education teacher should have knowledge about the disabilities as well as the skills to provide an appropriate education for them. This course is further designed to develop knowledge and understanding of diverse individuals, and to help the teacher candidate become more sensitive to the similarities, differences, and critical issues related to the education of students with disabilities, their families and the community.
