BIOI 511 - Introduction to Bioinformatics 3 hours. 3 Credits
This course introduces fundamental concepts, methods, algorithms, databases, and tools in bioinformatics and the intersection of molecular biology and computation. It covers the central dogma of biology, the origin and development of Next-Generation Sequencing, and the basic understanding of how this technology is used to measure the quality and quantity of genetic materials such as DNA, RNA, or proteins. R-programming language is introduced for data analysis and visualization.
