BIOI 512 - Structural Bioinformatics and Drug Design 3 hours. 3 Credits
This course introduces principles, methods, techniques, algorithms, databases, and strategies in structural bioinformatics. It covers the fundamentals of protein, DNA, and RNA structures, their determination techniques, data representation and databases, comparative features, structure-function assignment, protein interactions, and AI tools for structure prediction. Additional topics include protein folding, protein structure prediction and modeling, docking principles and methods, virtual screening, pharmacophores, QSAR, ligand design, drug design, and discovery.
Prerequisite(s) BIOI 511 and advisor permission. Offered (FALL or SPRING)
