HIST 311 - The Ancient World


3 Credits
Three hours per week.

This course surveys civilizations in the ancient Mediterranean world from the founding of Rome in 753 BCE to its fall in 476 CE. Primary emphasis is given to the histories of ancient Greece and Rome. Topics include the institutions of representative government, Greco-Roman wars, the decline of the Roman Republic, the Roman Principate, early Christianity, the division of the Roman Empire, and the fall of the West.
