MMJN 330 - Reporting and the Social Media


3 Credits
Three hours per week.

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of how social media tools relate to the practice of modern journalism, as well as the impact of the social media on societies and what happens in them, including how social media tools have been used in recent years to bring world attention to events happening in repressive societies around the world. The course will balance academic considerations and practical applications, incorporating the use of social media as relevant tools to the practice of journalism. This course will help foster the skill of applying the core principles and practices of journalism to social media in productive, creative, intelligent and ethical ways.

Prerequisite(s) COMM 201  and COMM 202  and MMJN 202  with a grade of “C” or better.
