PHEC 300 - Selected Roots of Afro American Dance

Three hours per week.

This course is a historical study of dance from its roots in West Africa to the present day in the United States of America. Attention is given to the influences of enslavement, religion, superstitions, and cultural heritage. Stress is placed on the influence of Latin American climate, culture and habits of the dance evolution.
