Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) is a field of study which encompasses a broad range of topics relating to personal and family well-being. It integrates various disciplines such as nutrition, parenting, human development, finance, textiles, and more. FACS aims to empower individuals and families with the skills and knowledge needed to make informed decisions that contribute to a high and positive quality of life. It is crucial in promoting healthy relationships, managing resources effectively, and enhancing overall well-being.
Mission Statement
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences prepares students with the competencies and skills required for public service to address ongoing changes and new developments in goods and services. The department conducts research to implement progress that will improve family life in urban populations. Through collaborative relationships, the department enhances the viability and quality of family life in the communities served by the University.
