School Summary
The School of Community Health and Policy (SCHP) currently provides graduate education and training to students in the areas of nursing and public health. SCHP equips its graduates to assume public professional positions that address health inequities that confront populations in urban areas locally as well as globally.
The School has two departments – the Department of Public and Allied Health and the Department of Nursing. The Department of Public and Allied Health offers the Master of Public and Doctor of Public in both online and campus-based modalities. The Department of Nursing offers a Master of Science (Nursing) and a PhD (Nursing).

Guiding Principles and Values
The guiding principles and values of the school are summarized in the acronym ACCESS. The letters represent Academic Excellence, Community Engagement, Collaboration, Experiential Learning, Social Justice/Health Equity, and Scholarship. These elements undergird all aspects of teaching, research, and service for the school.
Major Goals

To provide highly effective undergraduate and graduate educational experiences that are community-focused and incorporate experiential learning to prepare students for productive and meaningful careers in public health, nutrition, and nursing.

To conduct research and other evidence-based projects that serve as a major resource of new health-based knowledge, with emphasis on improving community health outcomes grounded in evidence-based practices.

To serve communities and engage them through equitable partnerships for the development and implementation of collaborative strategies to eliminate health disparities.
