English Minor

The minor in English is designed to allow students to enhance their major with literature or language competencies which will best improve their career preparation and marketability. The minor in English requires a sequence of 18 credits with a grade of “C” or better in each course.

Core Courses


Elective Courses


Students should complete the minor by choosing courses most closely related to their field or interest. For example, philosophy majors might choose literature courses, while business majors might select courses in technical and professional writing. Students may not satisfy this requirement with ENGL 350 - Writing Practicum  or with ENGL 101 - Composition I -ENGL 102 - Composition II  or ENGL 111 - Composition I—Honors  or ENGL 112 - Composition II—Honors . In addition, students should be certain that they have met prerequisites for taking advanced English courses.
