The Hospitality Management major has a strong business component. The curriculum emphasizes managerial leadership and is designed to develop/prepare students with theoretical and applied business and hospitality knowledge, skills, values and attributes. The major in Hospitality Management requires 27 credits beyond the General Education and the School of Business and Management requirements. The 18 credits of required Hospitality Management courses are: HOMG 101 , HOMG 290 , HOMG 292 , HOMG 300 , HOMG 325 , and HOMG 412 . Six credits of electives may be chosen from the following: ENTR 351 , MGBU 361 , MGBU 456 , MGBU 486 , HRMG 329 , HRMG 420 , MKTG 338 , HOMG 483 , HOMG 485 , HOMG 486 or six credits of the same foreign language (6 credits of the same foreign language course counts as 2 HOMG Electives). The 3 credit GSBM elective must be a 300-400 level course selected from outside the student’s major, but within the School of Business and Management.
Requirements for the B.S. Degree in Hospitality Management
A minimum of 120 credit hours are required to graduate with a B.S. in Hospitality Management. These credit hours are distributed as follows:
General Education and University Requirements 42 credits
Business Core and Supporting Courses 48 credits
Required Courses for the Hospitality Management Major 30 credits
Total Credits 120
All Supporting, Business Core, and Major Required Courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
