PSYC 481 - Psychology Internship/Service Learning II

3 credits
This service-learning course offers students practical experiences in mental health and community organizations as a way to enhance various areas of knowledge and skills learned through the College of Liberal Arts curriculum. Students “learn by doing” under the direct supervision of a field supervisor and/or internship coordinator/course instructor. Students will select a non-paid mental health or community-based organization that is compliant with the State Department of Assessments & Taxation (SDAT). A field agreement between the University and a community-based organization is approved by the Office of General Council.  The agency will provide the student with diverse professional work tasks that align with learning outcomes for the internship program.  The time investment in this course is approximately 85-100 hours. The goal is to foster a sustainable relationship of accountability that potentially leads to graduate school or career placement.
