CHEM 201 - Organic Chemistry for Allied Health Science Majors 4 Credits Three lecture hours. 3 lab hours.
This is a one-semester organic chemistry course. The course stresses the concept of organic compounds related to biological processes. Organic chemical nomenclature, structure, and properties of carbon compounds are illustrated by applications to human life. Laboratory work includes methods of separation, purification, testing, and spectroscopy of biologically interesting organic compounds. The course is designed for allied health science majors and will not carry credit towards a major or minor in chemistry. Prerequisite courses listed must be completed with a grade of C or better in order to take the indicated course. It is expected that all prior prerequisite courses to the ones listed have also been satisfied with a grade of C or better.
Prerequisite(s) CHEM 106 or CHEM 112 AND CHEM 106L or CHEM 112L AND all prior prerequisites for these courses.
