HEED 303 - Communications for Optimal Health


3 Credits
Three hours per week.

This course will provide optimal communication skills for today’s health professional with concentration on the fundamentals of medical terminology. Attention is given to communication strategies and skills that are necessary for health educators when communicating with various populations. The course provides a hands-on approach via role play and through the use of various forms of technology to explore the creation of various communication strategies in health education. The course also explores innovative communications mechanisms such as the media and communication campaigns to promote health. An emphasis will also be given to the evaluation of health communication efforts and the role of health literacy and numeracy in all health education efforts.
