HIST 312 - Medieval and Renaissance Europe

This course surveys the history of Western Europe from 400 CE to 1500 CE. Topics include the nascent barbarian kingdoms, the foundations of the Latin and Orthodox Christian churches, Byzantium, the formation of states and church-state conflicts, Islam and the Crusades, the wars and disruptions of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and culture and conflict during the Italian Renaissance.
