HIST 385 - History of the Islamic World

3 hours per week.

This course examines the emergence of Islam in the 7th century, the role of the Prophet Muhammad, the construction of the Islamic empire and its contributions to world civilization. The course covers the modern period with a focus on the contemporary Islamic world and the challenges it faces particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
