SOCI 306 - African-Americans in the United States

3 Credits
3 hours per week.

This course provides a sociological appraisal of the condition and personality of African Americans. Attention is given to the impact of slavery and colonialism on the manner in which the American experience has influenced the family life of African Americans, as well as their participation in education, politics, health care, the economy, religion, housing, music and sports.
