CHEM 202 - Biochemistry for Allied Health Science Majors 4 credits 3 lecture hours. 3 lab hours.
This course presents an introduction to the chemical structure of cellular components, namely carbohydrates, amino acids and proteins, lipids and biomembranes, enzymes, and nucleic acids. The metabolism of carbohydrates and other foodstuffs that store and supply energy to the body are explored. The overview of metabolism includes a review of nutrition and vitamins. The course is designed for allied health science majors and will not carry credit towards a major or minor in chemistry. Prerequisite courses listed must be completed with a grade of C or better in order to take the indicated course. It is expected that all prior prerequisite courses to the ones listed have also been satisfied with a grade of C or better.
Prerequisite(s) CHEM 201 or CHEM 204 and CHEM 204L AND all prior prerequisites for these courses completed with grades of “C” or higher Offered (FALL)
