COMM 203 - Media Literacy in a Diverse World


3 credits
3 hours per week.

This course examines mass media and the social, economic and psychological roles and impacts that they have in different societies. Emphasis will be placed on how media shape perceptions about race, religion, gender, ability, sexual orientation, etc. Students will learn how media shape our perceptions about other nations and shape other nations’ perceptions about us. Students will also learn the roles media play in helping to shape and reflect culture and the important roles that media consumers play in the mass communication process.
