CYBR 420 - Cybersecurity Law and Privacy 3 credits This course is designed to prepare the cybersecurity major with the complex legal policy issues mandated by international treaties, international law, and U.S. Law. The student will analyze policies and ethical and legal issues regarding the investigation and prosecution of computer crimes from e-commerce to Internet fraud. The implications will center on enforcement in the the United States. It will also deal with copyright and international laws and treaties about intellectual property and security. The U.S. laws examined are the Computer Security Act, Sarbanes/Oxley/Gramm/Leach/Bliley, COPPA, HIPAA, FERPA, Patriot Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508, and other emerging laws. The course also covers Cybersecurity Ethics of codes, frameworks, property rights, resource use, censorship, and social responsibility.
Prerequisite(s) MGBU 381 completed with a grade of “C” or higher Offered (SPRING)
