ODSW 701 - Advanced Clinical Practice

This clinical theory course advances students ability to identify, understand and assess theoretical perspectives as they are applied to work with individuals within urban populations. Examining dominant theories which are frequently utilized from a psychopathological approach, to inform clinical practice and research. Students will enhance their ability to perform psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans and interventions which are culturally attuned. The evidenced-based models of clinical practice addressed in this course are Afrocentric paradigms and modalities, Cognitive Based Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT therapy, Motivational Enrichment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Relational Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
