COSC 723 - Advanced Computer Architecture 3 Credits
This course studies the design and evaluation of modern uniprocessor computing systems. Evaluation methodology/metrics and caveats, instruction set design, advanced pipelining, instruction level parallelism, prediction-based techniques, RISC-V, alternative architectures (VLIW, Vector and SIMD), memory hierarchy design, I/O, and recent trends in architecture. The course will also cover new architecture such as quantum computing architecture.
