MGBU 498 - Business Policy (Honors Students Only) 3 credits 3 hours per week.
This is an advanced course in management and should be taken as a capstone course during the student’s final semester. It utilizes the case approach and an Internet-based business simulation as learning tools. The student is required to apply all the concepts of management, accounting, production, marketing, economics and finance. This course requires integrating skills at developing and deploying organizational resources and capabilities; applying analytical tools and perspectives to changing industries and multi-business markets; and designing organizational structures, systems, and processes that achieve short-term and long-term strength and growth. Students learn how to manage the interpersonal dynamics of strategy decision making and how to communicate effectively their visions and strategies to internal and external stakeholders of the organization. Core strategy themes including analyzing scale and scope, evaluating competencies, understanding the importance of organizational capabilities, managing the multi-business corporation, and choosing strategies are all emphasized in this course.
