APLS 300 - Research Methods for Interdisciplinary Majors 3 credits This course introduces the principles and practices of scholarly inquiry across the humanities and social sciences. This course emphasizes the development of critical skills necessary to formulate research questions, evaluate sources, and employ appropriate methodologies. Students will examine both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including interviews, focus groups, case studies, ethnography, surveys, correlational and experimental designs, as well as participatory and community-based methods such as photovoice and mapping. Particular attention is given to the ethical dimensions of research, the interpretation of data, and the role of research in addressing contemporary issues.
